Active Travel Officer

About the role

Cambridgeshire County Council has ambitious plans for the future development of its transport network in order to tackle the climate emergency, clean up our air, support active and healthy lifestyles and facilitate improved economic opportunities and growth. The journey to Net Zero is a key objective of the Council and its partners and is embedded in corporate policy. An essential part of this is getting more people to walk, wheel and cycle more often, more safely for their journeys to school, work, leisure activities and shopping.

As a member of the new Active Travel Centre of Excellence you will be a point of contact both internally and externally for all things active travel related. You will work across council departments and with key partners such as Active Travel England, The Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority, and the district councils, focusing on identifying opportunities for improving facilities for, and promotion of, active travel. You will be part of a team proactively leading on the sharing of knowledge and best practice with all relevant stakeholders and ensuring that active travel is embedded in everything the Council does.

The attached Job Description and Person Specification provide more information.

Applications will be shortlisted against how you meet the personal specification, please consider this when drafting your supporting statement.

Interviews will take place on Tuesday 11th November, at New Shire Hall, Emery Crescent, Enterprise Campus, Alconbury Weald, Huntingdon, PE28 4YE. If you are unable to attend on this date, please indicate this in your supporting statement.
