About the role
The Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) have an exciting permanent, full time vacancy for an Adult MASH Senior Social Worker.
MASH provides a safeguarding triage function and is committed to making safeguarding personal. This involves engaging with the adult at risk, or their advocate, to agree a way forward which follows the six key principles of s42 enquiries under the Care Act.
MASH works closely with its partner agencies, in the spirit of the Care Act, to share information with the aim of providing the highest quality of response to adults at risk.
The team is co-located, with the police, at The Hex, Police Headquarters and therefore this post will be subject to the outcome of a Police vetting check. We are working a Hybrid model of at least 2 days office based and enabling home working.

What will you be doing?
MASH provides a safeguarding triage function and as a MASH Senior Social Worker, you will be responsible for undertaking a triage function for all safeguarding referrals using a risk-based approach in line with relevant procedures and ensuring the delivery of a high quality and effective MASH service across Cambridgeshire to respond to the needs of service users and their families in a timely manner within statutory guidelines and service specifications.
You will need to provide a response, which is preventative, by signposting to relevant organisations or conduct (or instruct others to conduct) enquiries under section 42 of the Care Act.
You will have excellent communication skills as you’ll be providing advice and guidance to practitioners and working closely with partner agencies.
We also want you to support the Team Manager with MASH staff’s Our Conversations (supervisions) and support the team in taking responsibility for their personal development.
About you
The person we are looking for will:
- Be a registered Social Worker with post qualifying roles and positions
- Have an in-depth knowledge of the Care Act and other relevant legislation and be able to apply these in practice.
- Be an advanced communicator.
- Engage in learning and development and maintaining CPD for Social Work England, as well as demonstrating understanding and experience of complex safeguarding legislation and guidance.
