About the role
Are you a critically reflective social worker looking to take the next step in your career? If so, this is an exciting time to join our team. Cambridgeshire County Council's Learning and Development Team is looking for a Full-time Adult Social Care Practice Development Lead.
You'll be joining a welcoming Adults' team and the wider Learning and Development Team, supporting professional learning, practice development and workforce improvement across Adult Social Care. This is a varied role that combines supporting newly qualified social workers through their Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) with wider responsibility for developing, delivering and evaluating professional learning opportunities, contributing to practice improvement initiatives, and supporting workforce development priorities across services.
The post holder will be able to work flexibly from home or from our Stanton House office in Huntingdon, and other offices around the County when required. We are also able to offer flexible working patterns, allowing everyone to effectively blend their work and life commitments.
For more information or to chat about this opportunity please contact: Zainab Sulaiman, Adult Social Care L&D Business Partner, at Zainab.Sulaiman@Cambridgeshire.gov.uk.
What will you be doing?
As an Adult Social Care Practice Development Lead, you will play a key role in the delivery, development and quality assurance of the Adult Social Care ASYE programme, ensuring newly qualified social workers receive high-quality support, assessment and development throughout their first year of practice.
You will provide reflective supervision, undertake practice-based assessment activities and work collaboratively with managers and colleagues to promote positive learning experiences and professional development. You will contribute to the ongoing development and continuous improvement of the ASYE offer, helping to ensure assessment processes are robust, consistent and aligned to national standards.
In addition, you will design, develop, deliver and evaluate a range of professional learning opportunities across Adult Social Care. These may include classroom and virtual learning, coaching, mentoring, action learning, reflective supervision and other approaches that support workforce development.
You will work collaboratively with operational services and wider partners to identify learning needs, develop sustainable learning solutions and contribute to practice improvement and workforce development priorities across Adult Social Care.
About you
You will have substantial experience of adult social work practice and a commitment to supporting the professional development of others.
You may have experience as a Practice Educator, ASYE Assessor, supervisor or in another role where you have supported learning and development in the workplace. If you do not currently hold a Practice Educator qualification, you should be willing to undertake it.
You will understand how professional learning occurs in the workplace and how reflection, supervision and constructive feedback can support professional growth.
You will have strong communication, organisational and analytical skills, together with an ability to build positive working relationships with colleagues across Adult Social Care.
You will be able to adapt your communication and support to meet a range of individual learning needs, helping to create an environment where colleagues can learn, develop and thrive.
Most importantly, you will be passionate about supporting high-quality social work practice and improving outcomes for adults and carers.
