About the role
We are looking to recruit two fixed term Analysts to help the Council harness the potential of data, using evidence and best practice to support and inform the development of policy, strategy, plans and budgets, and in turn deliver the Corporate Strategy for Cambridgeshire County Council.
Role 1: Analyst (Children, Education and Families) 1-year fixed term
This role will focus on delivering analytical work for our Childrens, Education and Families directorate, with a specific focus on the Risk Outside The Home (ROTH) safeguarding programme, alongside other analytical tasks that support service planning and delivery.

Role 2: Analyst (forecasting and demography) - 1-year fixed term
This role will focus on delivering work on behalf of our district partners to support local planning and dwelling stock and population change. The work includes primary data collection, GIS mapping and providing meaningful and accurate data to inform decision making.

The roles sit within Cambridgeshire County Council’s newly formed Policy, Performance & Intelligence Service. A team of 50 individuals who provide data, analysis, insight and policy expertise to support the operational management and strategic planning of services.

What will you be doing?
Role 1: Analyst (Children, Education and Families) 1-year fixed term
This is an exciting role supporting the CEF directorate through the provision of data, insight, and analysis.
You will be responsible for:
- Providing analysis to support the Risk Outside The Home (ROTH) programme
- Dashboard creation using Power Bi
- Data provision in support of Ofsted inspections
- National and regional benchmarking
- Annual statutory data return compilation and submission
- Data analysis to support FOI requests
- Ad hoc data provision and analysis for a range of teams within the Children & Families directorate
- Work with other experts within the team as well as colleagues from the wider service to support directorate change programmes
Role 2: Analyst (forecasting and demography) - 1-year fixed term
This is an exciting role supporting the council and partners through the collection and provision of data, insight, and analysis.
You will be responsible for:
- Collecting data housing and business growth to inform future forecasting, including primary data collection in the field.
- Delivering analysis of planning monitoring data including maps, tables and reports.
- Undertaking quality assurance of draft datasets
- Data provision to support local planning for district and city councils.
- National and regional benchmarking
- Annual data compilation and submission, including quality assurance
- Data analysis to support FOI request
A driving licence is not essential but would be beneficial for data collection.
About you

Are you ambitious, innovative, good with data and passionate with an enthusiasm for supporting evidence led decision making. If so, we may have the roles you’ve been searching for!
We are looking for individuals with strong technical skills, who has a sound understanding of a range of data sources and can practically apply those skills to embed new data solutions. You will have experience of service improvement projects, an ability to work well with others and excellent organisational skills.
Good communication skills, both oral and written, are essential for these roles, as the post holders will be required to present complex and sometimes technical information in appropriate forms for a wide range of internal and external audiences.
You will have relevant previous experience in a similar field. High level of competence with Power BI, data analysis, and specialist data analytical software are also desirable. Successful applicants will be well supported to further develop their subject knowledge and technical skillset.
