Asset Strategy, Planning & Performance Engineer

About the role

You will be part of a team providing the highway asset management leadership across Highways, setting our longer term strategies for investment and delivery; developing policy; reporting on asset condition and working closely with the asset technical teams. The team will also oversee the performance and quality management of the service supporting service improvement.  This team will Horizon scan for the service and lead on adapting to future risks or change and seeking additional funding.

What will you be doing?

The development and delivery of high quality asset management is vital to the future economic wellbeing of Cambridgeshire.  

These roles will be responsible for driving the asset management processes and culture of the department.  

Carry out asset investigations and assessments to assess condition and functionality of assets the team is responsible for. Identify appropriate treatments and interventions and extents of maintenance works. 

Work closely with design and delivery partners leading on the delivery of programmes, cyclic works and schemes. 

Provide information on schemes and programmes to stakeholders and provide technical expertise for reports and briefings.  

Work with minimum supervision taking responsibility for organising your own works priorities within the parameters set by the team manager. 

Work closely with Stakeholders and Communities to understand problems and seek solutions. 

The role requires excellent written and oral communication skills, knowledge and application of asset management principles and pavement management systems, the ability to work with and interpret a range of data, networking skills and the ability to work with a range of stakeholder groups developing strong partnerships to create effective working relationships. 

To support the Team Leader and other managers within Place & Sustainability in delivering the Council and Directorate’s objectives, through joined-up service planning, community engagement and the flexible use of resources.
