About the role

Cambridgeshire are entering an exciting period in relation to the delivery of transport. We have a new strategy that is seeking to evolve and challenge the way our transport services are delivered. We are working closely with providers and families to make sure our transport from home to school and our transport offer for vulnerable adults is the best it can be.

Transport is one of the key priorities for the Education Directorate, and there has been significant investment in the creation of a new service dedicated to delivering outstanding transport services. It is the perfect time to join the new team as they embark on a new chapter.

The Assistant Contracts Officer reports directly to the Contracts Officer and is a key role in the delivery of contracts within the Passenger Transport Team.

What will you be doing?

This team oversees a large volume of contracts and procurement activity relating to the delivery of home to school transport.

You will provide and own the business support within this contracts function which will contribute to the effective running of the systems, setting up and maintaining systems and processes and plays a crucial role in the cycle of transport delivery. You will support and liaise with customers on behalf of the service, in relation to service delivery and financial expenditures.

This role is a fantastic opportunity to gain key experience in contract procurement and delivery.

About you

You will be a highly diligent and organised, with excellent attention to detail. You will understand the importance of process and be able to work at a fast pace. You may have a keen interest in contracts and procurement and be starting your career in this sector. Equally you may have significant experience providing business support in a fast paced, pressured environment and bring with you the benefit of that experience. Either way you will be a team player, with excellent relational skills you will understand the importance of providing support to those around you to ensure a high-quality service is delivered.

We have two posts to recruit to in this team. One full time and the other part time, (0.5 Full time equivalent). We are keen to hear from anyone interested in either post and will work flexibly for the right candidate.
