Assistant Coordinator CamPlay, Disability Community Support Services

Please Note: The application deadline for this job has now passed.

About the role

Thanks for looking at our advert, if you’ve clicked on the link, it means that you are interested so don’t stop there, carry on reading.

Do you think you can support a staff member to help a disabled young person to go bowling for the first time? Or support our workers to feel confident to spend time exploring the outdoors with a group of young people that can’t walk without their help? What about talking to a family about what we offer, making them feel confident in our service and finding out all the things about their child that they need to make sure they are safe when they are with us?

If you like the sound of this, then we want you with us!

What will you be doing?

We are called CamPlay and are part of service called Community Support. We’ve been supporting disabled children and young people for over 20 years, and even if we say so ourselves, we’re pretty good at it, you only need to read the feedback below to see our children and young people and their families tell us they love coming to CamPlay!

“I enjoy going to CamPlay in the Holidays. I enjoy the activities and the trips and I like to see the staff as they are all really friendly" – young person aged 11.

"S absolutely LOVES going to club. Every session he comes out and says it was the best one yet and is already looking forward to the next one. He talks about his friends from club all the time at home and feels really safe enough to challenge himself and do things he wouldn't do at home." – Parent.

“She has developed a lot of confidence, her speech has improved significantly. She enjoys both the holiday club and Saturday club, has developed friendships, created a positive routine for herself during the weekends and has something to look forward to in the holidays”.  Parent.

We are really busy, running 17 Saturday and Community Clubs across the county and in the holidays, we run 13 Holiday Clubs in 6 different areas during Easter, Summer and Christmas (told you we were busy!).

So, do you think you’re up to the challenge? It’s probably one of the most fun jobs on the planet – managing, supporting and developing staff to spend time with some of the most interesting, entertaining and expressive children and young people you would ever wish to meet, and supporting them to give these wonderful children the chance to experience things that other kids their age take for granted.

About you

We are a brilliant team to work with, even if we say so ourselves, and when people come and work with us, they very rarely leave. We have a rich and experienced team, and we are proud of each and every one of them.

Do you think that this is something you want to be a part of?

So, experience is obviously important but let’s be honest, we all need to start somewhere and so if you think you have done something similar and can bring your skills to us and show us how you can make them work in our service, then let us know. We’re proud that we have a really solid induction, and we want to grow and nurture our staff, so if you’re worried you’re not experienced enough, don’t let it put you off.

We’re more interested in finding out if you’re organised, if you have strong leadership skills, if you’re not scared to deal with an issue that might have arisen and needs your negotiation skills to resolve and if you’re creative and can motivate a team to provide a first-class service.

We want to know that keeping children and young people safe is a priority for you, and what you would do to make sure this always happens. We want to see that you would go the extra mile to make sure our young people have the BEST time whilst they are at our clubs and that you make sure that no one is left out, that everyone is included, even if it means more work and thinking creatively.

What about IT? Are you good at sending emails and keeping spreadsheets up to date? Can you set up a meeting using Teams?

What do think about being a part of our in-house training team? Do you think you have the confidence to train others and share your skills and experiences? Don’t worry if you don’t, we have a great Trainers Pathway that will give you the confidence and skills to do this in the future.

We want someone with all these traits, as well at being great at writing reports, going to meetings, representing what we are about and advocating for our young people, brilliant at speaking to people, face to face, in a Teams meeting or on the phone. We need someone who can see risk but is creative enough to work safely around it to make sure that we are giving all of our young people to have the best experiences.

So, you think this is you….then send us your application and tell us all about how you’re going to make an impact on our team.

You can call our Duty Team on 01480 379800 or if you prefer, email our Coordinator stacey.pamment@cambridgeshire.gov.uk

Interviews for this post will take place on Monday 12th February in Huntingdon.

We are looking forward to hearing from you.
