Business Officer - Regional Adoption Agency

About the role

Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to work within the Local Authority and gain experience within Children’s Services? The Regional Adoption Agency (RAA) require 1 full time (37 hours) Business Officer to support with the administration and minuting of the Adoption Panels.

What will you be doing?

This is a varied role which includes all aspects of administrative tasks and minuting of Adoption Panels. You will be collating data and information pertaining to children and adults who are going through the adoption process and dealing with emails in generic mailboxes.  You may also be required to carry out other tasks across the other teams within the Regional Adoption Agency, including the processing of invoices and minuting other meetings such as Child Appreciation Days and Medical Meetings. Additionally, you will be required to process claims for payment from panel members for attending panel. 

You will need to be flexible in your approach to work, as this is a varied role and will include the processing of papers and reports in preparation for these meetings and the distribution of paperwork.

About you

You will need good administration skills and the ability to prioritise as this is a fast paced role with short statutory deadlines. Along with diary management, you will need excellent customer service and communication skills as you will be liaising with potential adopters, social workers, external agencies such as medical professionals and other local authorities.

You will be expected to work on your own initiative, keep calm under pressure and work to tight deadlines. You should have a methodical and concise approach to tasks and the ability to prioritise workloads effectively. You will need a comprehensive understanding of Microsoft packages (Word and Excel) and be able to use databases.
