About the role

Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to gain experience within the Local Authority and develop your knowledge and understanding of Children’s Services.

The Quality Assurance and Practice Improvement (QAPI) Service require 1 full time (37 hours) Business Officer to support the Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) team.

The LADO team responds to concerns raised about any adult in a position of trust who is employed or volunteers to work with children, that they might pose a risk of significant harm to children, either as a result of past concerns or a current incident. The LADO liaises with the employers, partner agencies and, where relevant, chair Allegations Management Meetings (AMMs) to ensure safeguards are in place and children are protected.  The team provide advice, awareness raising training and support to employers and partner agencies. ​​​​​​​

Your role will be supporting the work of the LADO’s by minuting statutory Allegation Management Meetings as well completing various administration tasks.

What will you be doing?

This role will include the convening, minuting and administration of the Allegation Management Meetings (AMM’s), managing a team inbox and completing relevant checks on our internal systems for MAPPA meetings and prison notifications.

You will need to have the ability to summarise and produce information in a concise manner. Minutes are recorded on a template. Minuting experience is preferred but not essential as training and support will be provided. 

You will need to be flexible in your approach to work, as this is a varied role. You will need good administration skills and the ability to prioritise is key as this is a fast paced role with short statutory deadlines. Along with diary management, you will need excellent customer service and communication skills as you will be liaising with external agencies such as the Police and Schools.

You will be expected to work on your own initiative, keep calm under pressure and work to tight deadlines. You should have a methodical and concise approach to tasks and the ability to prioritise workloads effectively. You will need a comprehensive understanding of Microsoft packages (Word and Excel) and be able to use databases.
