Carbon and Energy Analyst

Please Note: The application deadline for this job has now passed.

About the role

Cambridgeshire County Council is a pioneer in energy efficiency and renewable energy generation investment.  This work is led by the Council’s Climate Change and Energy Services (CCES) team. The CCES team is a business focused, proactive team supporting the Council to generate income and energy savings on public sector assets through the development of a variety of energy projects, as well as leading the implementation of the Council’s Climate Change and Environment Strategy. You can find out more about the team’s work at www.cambridgeshire.gov.uk/climate-change.

We are seeking a Carbon and Energy Analyst to contribute to the Council’s carbon accounting and greenhouse gas emissions reporting processes, as well as to the collecting, analysis and reporting of electricity, gas and water consumption data from across the Council’s property portfolio. Your work will positively contribute to initiatives to reduce energy consumption across the Council’s assets, thereby reducing energy spend and carbon emissions, and supporting delivery of the Council’s Climate Change and Environment Strategy and the wider work of the Climate Change and Energy Services team.

We will consider applications for either full time or part time working arrangements.

The post is based at Sackville House, Cambourne, but we operate a hybrid working arrangement so the postholder would have the option to work from home for part of the week. Occasional travel to other locations within Cambridgeshire may be required from time to time.

The post is initially funded for a 3 year fixed term period. There is a possibility that the post may become permanent but this is not yet confirmed.

Interviews are likely to be held between 6-9 December.  Interviews may be held remotely, using Microsoft Teams, or in person at one of our offices in Cambourne or Alconbury Weald. If you are shortlisted, we will agree a suitable interview arrangement with you.

If you have any further questions please contact: Sarah Wilkinson, Carbon and Energy Manager, on sarah.wilkinson@cambridgeshire.gov.uk or 01223 729157.

About you

The successful candidate will be a graduate (or equivalent) with a good understanding of statistical and analytical data techniques, as well as knowledge of sources of greenhouse gas emissions, and the main carbon accounting and reporting methods. Experience of working with energy management software would be an advantage.
