About the role
The Insurance Team are seeking an experienced claims handler to join our busy claims team. Dealing primarily with a range of liability claims made against local authorities you will be investigating claims, making and communicating decisions on liability to the claimant or their representatives. Experience of both property damage and personal injury claims management is desired and a working knowledge of claims made under the Highways Act would be a distinct advantage.
This position is a 12 month fixed term contract.

What will you be doing?
The role involves:
Investigating liability claims to prescribed timescales
Reviewing and interpreting evidence provided by service departments/secured from service IT systems
Preparing and issuing decisions on liability
Discussing decisions on liability with Claimants as required
Reviewing decisions made by colleagues and making judgements on appeals made by the Claimant or their representatives
Recording all actions on the service IT system
About you
As a candidate for our role you will have a demonstrable knowledge of the civil procedure rules and a track record of claims management, investigation and the assessment of quantum. An experienced negotiator you will have excellent communication skills, both written and oral. You will have developed IT skills including the use of standard office and bespoke software systems.
