Clerk to Governors

About the role

The School Governance Team are seeking to appoint clerks to deliver a high quality service providing support and advice to governing bodies to help them fulfil their strategic role of ensuring schools provide the best possible education for their pupils. Due to an increase in demand for the service - we currently have vacancies across Cambridgeshire.

Camclerks are homeworkers with most of the work able to be undertaken on a flexible basis at home. However, they are expected to attend governing body meetings which are generally held at the school in the evening.  Some meetings continue virtually, so "virtual-only" applicants may be considered.

Interviews will take place virtually week commencing 27th February 2023.

What will you be doing?

The main duties of the post will include:

  • producing agendas and minutes to a consistently high standard
  • providing advice to the governing body on governance legislation and procedural matters
  • planning and facilitating governing body meetings in consultation with the Chair of Governors and Headteacher
  • maintaining records of governing body business and membership

About you

To thrive in these roles, you will need:

  • excellent administration, ICT and communication skills
  • the ability to work to deadlines
  • the ability to work flexibly at times convenient to the Governing Body

Full training and support will be provided to candidates who demonstrate the necessary skills. There is an expectation that regular training and development will be undertaken to maintain knowledge and develop practice.
