What will you be doing?
The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of preservation and conservation work at Cambridgeshire Archives. You will personally undertake skilled conservation, cleaning, repair and repackaging work, as well as train and advise other staff and volunteers on best practice. In addition, you will manage the physical conditions in which our records are stored, take an active role in public engagement and maintain our Disaster Plan.
Cambridgeshire Archives Service operates two offices, at Huntingdon and Ely. This post is based at our conservation studio in Ely but occasional travel between the two locations may be required.
About you
You will have a recognised qualification in Conservation, or be working towards such a qualification. Relevant practical experience in an archive conservation setting of cleaning, repairing and repackaging archive collections is also required.
You will have a careful, methodical approach to work and an eye for detail. You will be the only conservation professional employed by the Service so an ability to organise your own workload, work independently and make professional judgements without the oversight of another on-site conservator is essential.
