Employee Wellbeing & Engagement Advisor

Please Note: The application deadline for this job has now passed.

About the role

Are you looking to make a difference to people's wellbeing and experience at work?

We are looking for an Employee Wellbeing & Engagement Advisor to contribute to the delivery of our new People Strategy in Cambridgeshire County Council, to ensure we are attracting, appreciating, developing, supporting, and including people in a way that makes them feel well and valued at work.

Collaborating with managers, networks, and professional leads across the Council, you will work across all our services to identify workplace wellbeing priorities and challenges, using this understanding, alongside workforce data and planning tools, to influence the Council’s People Strategy projects and to work alongside colleagues in teams that affect the employee experience.

For more information or to chat about this opportunity please contact Anna Syson, 07917 214519, anna.syson@cambridgeshire.gov.uk

What will you be doing?

Reporting to the Head of Policy and Wellbeing, you will support the development, implementation and evaluation of the wellbeing and engagement aspects of the People Strategy, and its associated action plans and projects. You will keep a close overview to ensure that all workforce projects and activities with wellbeing and engagement impact are joined up and align with the Council's People Strategy, and our values, behaviour and culture.

You will be ahead of the latest research-based workplace wellbeing initiatives and able to understand what would support and enhance our corporate priorities, including in our role as a public health authority. You will collaborate with internal and external partners to understand needs within the organisation, design, implement and evaluate appropriate wellbeing and engagement activity, and use your expertise to contribute to the development of both our employment practices, and engagement activity, to ensure that our actions as an employer maximise employee engagement and lead to people feeling well and being valued.

About you

You will have education and/or work experience in employee wellbeing or other employment-related discipline, demonstrable knowledge, understanding and experience of how workplace health and wellbeing theory can be put in to practice, as well as how to drive employee engagement.

You will be able to demonstrate your experience of designing, delivering and evaluating workplace health and wellbeing interventions in a large organisation and how to build credible and effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders that create impact.

You will value diversity, treat others with respect, and take responsibility for your own actions. You will be able to analyse relevant quantitative and qualitative data and use this to present well-reasoned conclusions and recommendations, that meet the needs of stakeholders across the organisation. You will achieve high standards, as well as understanding the importance of discretion in relation to the employee experience.

This role is hybrid in nature, with an expected mix of weekly attendance at the Council's base in Alconbury Weald, remote working, and the ability to travel independently around the County, visibly promoting wellbeing and engagement focused activity across our range of work locations.

The role is full-time and the Council supports flexible working requests from day one, so we are open to discussing how different working patterns could be supported. We have set out in the attached job description and person specification what we are ideally looking for in a candidate; our priority is in finding the right candidate with a mix of skills and experience that adds value to our employment offer, and if you think you think this could be you, please get in touch for an initial conversation with Anna Syson, Head of Policy and Wellbeing, 07917 21451, anna.syson@cambridgeshire.gov.uk

The expected interview date for this job will be 29th August 2023, at Alconbury Weald, near Huntingdon.
