The role is full time, 37 hours a week,  Salary £41,045-£44,062 (plus 2023 pay award)

Cambridgeshire County Council declared a Climate Emergency in 2019 and has since set itself ambitious carbon reduction targets as part of its Climate Change and Environment Strategy. It is delivering a wide range of energy investment and community energy projects including a first of its kind Community Heat Network into the village of Swaffham Prior in East Cambridgeshire. This project is a retrofit at a village scale, decarbonising the heating and hot water for homes connected to the network. We are looking to recruit an ambitious, energetic and committed Energy Business Development Manager with commercial sales and marketing experience to work with us on the community heat project and other energy projects as needed.

You will be responsible for identifying opportunities for the commercialisation of energy projects. This role will require someone who has knowledge and experience in stakeholder engagement, business development, customer services and communications, along with business acumen to make the most of council assets.

What will you be doing?

Initially, the focus will be on the Swaffham Prior Community Heat Network scheme to oversee the income generation of the heat project. This is income from renewable heat incentive, customer billing for the provision of heat services, accessing grants to support homes to connect to the heat scheme and building up other income streams where the market provides the opportunity.  The role will work closely with the community, signing up additional customers and sharing news on the heat network, building up positive, accessible communications for the heating scheme. The role will grow to cover a variety of other community energy projects as they come online.

You will work with a wide range of stakeholders, both internal to the Council and external which will help expand and grow your knowledge and skills around community energy
