Finance and Process Support Officer

About the role

The Finance and Process Support Officer sits within the Adults Commissioning, Contracts and Market Shaping Service, providing vital commissioning, financial, and process support that enables the service to operate efficiently, compliantly, and consistently. The service plays a central role in ensuring adult social care services are well‑governed, financially transparent, and able to meet statutory duties while delivering high‑quality, cost‑effective outcomes for people across Cambridgeshire. 

In this role, you will support commissioning, contracts, and brokerage teams by maintaining robust systems and processes, managing accurate records and trackers, and coordinating information across a wide range of activities. You will work closely with officers, Heads of Service, and stakeholders to support audits, inspections, reviews, and the development of new operating systems, helping ensure deadlines, milestones, and reporting requirements are met. 

The role has a strong organisational impact. By enabling effective co‑production, collaboration, and engagement, supporting financial processes, and providing clear, reliable information, the Finance and Process Support Officer help the Council demonstrate assurance, manage risk, and continuously improve how services are delivered. Your work directly underpins transparency, informed decision‑making, and the delivery of resilient services that support positive outcomes for people who use adult social care.

What will you be doing?

You will provide comprehensive commissioning, financial processing, and analytical support to the commissioning, contracts, and brokerage teams to enable efficient and compliant service delivery. This includes supporting effective co‑production, collaboration, and engagement by ensuring teams have the administrative and process support needed to work with partners and stakeholders

You will be liaising with internal and external stakeholders to coordinate information, facilitate communication, and support joined‑up working across the service.

You will be responsible for maintaining accurate records, trackers, and data, ensuring transparency, auditability, and timely sharing of updates with officers. You will prepare and present documents and data to support commissioning, contracts, and brokerage activity, including information relating to people accessing services.

You will also be required to support audits, inspections, reviews, and the development of new operating systems, contributing to service assurance and continuous improvement. You will assist with resolving queries and escalating issues appropriately to ensure risks, deadlines, and service impacts are managed effectively.

Your responsibilities also include supporting service continuity, including deputising for the line manager when required and helping ensure key milestones and priorities are met.

 

About you

You will have experience providing financial, administrative, and process support within a complex or high‑intensity service environment.

You are confident working with data, systems, and trackers, and understand the importance of accuracy, transparency, and auditability. You can manage competing priorities and deadlines while maintaining attention to detail and high standards of work.

You will be someone who can communicate clearly and professionally, working effectively with internal and external stakeholdersto coordinate information and resolve queries.

You will also be proactive and improvement‑focused, able to identify opportunities to streamline processes and support continuous improvement. You work collaboratively and value co‑production, engagement, and teamwork across services.

You are confident using Microsoft Office and related systemsand adaptable to new tools and ways of working. You are dependable and organised, able to exercise judgement, escalate issues appropriately, and support service continuity when required.
