This position will be based in Scott House Huntingdon, however the role enjoys flexible ways of working that suits you – the financial assessment team are currently and predominantly working remotely with occasional office days and service user home visits.

About The Role

Anyone in receipt of Adult Social Care may need to make a financial contribution based on their capital and income. This is calculated by a means tested financial assessment which is the work the Financial Assessment Team undertake. Financial Assessment Officers offer advice and assistance to service users (or their representatives) to complete a financial assessment form and ensure they understand the process. The team manage their own financial assessment case load and determine any financial contribution a service user may need to make based on Policies and Legislation. The team also provides advice to service users on general welfare benefit matters: helping to maximise service user’s income by identifying potential welfare benefit entitlement.

About you

The role of the Team Leader includes;

  • Managing the flow of financial assessment work for the service in a professional, customer focused and efficient manner utilising a combination of people, process and technology
  • Demonstrate expert understanding of financial assessment policies and legislation ensuring that the team are compliant with the work they undertake
  • Respond to and resolve complex requests and queries
  • Day to day line management of direct reports, taking responsibility for developing, appraising and rewarding team members and driving forward morale, training and performance
  • Identify areas of the service where improvements could be made and make recommendations to improve efficiency, revenue and customer experience
  • Work collaboratively on projects that support developments / improvements for the Financial Assessments Team in a professional and positive way

Transferable Skills that would make you successful in this role include:

  • Proven experience of managing a team delivering excellent customer service, with experience of conflict resolution, negotiation and diplomacy
  • High level of numeracy and literacy skills and experience of managing a team that complete accurate figure work
  • Strong commercial acumen and organisational skills. An ability to manage a team that handle multiple tasks while working to tight deadlines and maintaining a high degree of accuracy and organisation
  • Ability to influence and communicate with managers and customers
  • Experience of developing user guides and training documentation
  • Articulate and able to communicate in a clear manner both verbally and in writing, in particular with at risk adults and their carers, to achieve desired outcomes
  • The ability to travel to visit service users at their home from time to time
