Green Infrastructure Technical Officer

About the role

The Technical Officer role is based in the Green Infrastructure team and provides an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic individual looking to join our Highways Maintenance team.  

To support the Green Infrastructure Manager and other managers within Place & Sustainability in delivering the Council and Directorate’s objectives through joined-up service planning, community engagement and the flexible use of resources. 

The team will work with wider teams within the Highway Maintenance Group and to ensure a customer focus in the service delivery and ensure benefits are realised for communities in terms of net zero, resilience and sustainability. Working with Community Groups and Partners, dealing with customer correspondence from Parish Councils and members of the public. You will be an excellent communicator, both verbal and written and be able to build relationships with customers, elected members, businesses, partner organisations and other stakeholders.

What will you be doing?

You will be responsible for all our Highways Green Infrastructure, leading change in the way Cambridgeshire County Council manages and maintains our highway grass verges, hedges, shrubs and trees. Our Highways Green Infrastructure is important to achieving nature recovery as part of our Climate Crisis response and you will be a big part in achieving our aims for nature. 

About you

We are looking for enthusiastic candidates who preferably have experience of highway maintenance or a technical background.
