Group Manager Contracts & Commissioning

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to lead an ambitious and forward-thinking team of contract and commissioning experts delivering across Highways and Transport. You will be leading on the management of 4 significant contracts and frameworks coordinating annual plans with our supply chain in excess of c.100 million per annum. You will have the opportunity to shape our newly procured contract management system, create positive relationships with our supply chain partners and develop a growing team of contract and commercial expertise through our trainee progression scheme.

What will you be doing?

In this role, you will be:

  • Leading a team of commercial and contract experts
  • Driving a positive health, safety and wellbeing culture throughout Highways and Transport
  • Developing positive relationships with our supply chain partners
  • Looking at out processes and procedures and driving a digital by default way of working
  • Ensuring Highways and Transport has a commercially astute client team that is continually upskilled
  • Ensuring we comply with our contract terms and corporate policies
  • Working with the Assistant Director to consider our operating model and contracts of the future
  • Continually developing our people and promoting the career progression and apprenticeship schemes

About you

I this role, you will require:

  • Experience and qualification(s) in a highways and contract management discipline
  • Experience of managing an New Engineering Contract (NEC)
  • Experience of managing high performing teams
  • Understanding of local government and a civil engineering sector
  • An ability to create relationships across a diverse stakeholder base to achieve the best possible outcomes
