Health Improvement Officer, Commissioning & Partnerships, Children and Young People

About the role

 

Cambridgeshire County Council’s Public Health team are seeking to recruit a specialist Public Health Improvement Office to join the Children’s Public Health Team. The team consists of a Public Health consultant who reports to the Director of Public Health, a commissioning team manager, and two Public Health Improvement Officer posts of which this is one. The post holder will:

  • Work to improve, promote and protect the health and wellbeing of the Cambridgeshire population and reduce health inequalities.
  • Contribute to the achievement of Cambridgeshire County Council (CCC) Strategic Ambitions, the Joint Health and Wellbeing and Integrated Care Partnership Strategy, other related strategies, and the achievement of Public Health Outcomes. 
  • Support the Children and Young People’s health system in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough and the Integrated Care System to undertake literature searches and reviews that will provide an evidence base to underpin the system wide children’s strategies and support effective commissioning of services.
  • Take a lead role on a range of specific programmes, to ensure that a project management approach is built into all aspects of the work, working with key stakeholders and partners to deliver the strategic priorities of the Council.
  • Take a lead role on commissioning evidence-based, outcomes-focussed Public Health services such as the Healthy Child Programme.

What will you be doing?

To contribute to the achievement of Cambridgeshire County Council (CCC) Strategic Ambitions, the Joint Health and Wellbeing and Integrated Care Partnership Strategy, other related strategies, and the achievement of Public Health Outcomes

Work to support the delivery of the public health outcomes found in the Public Health Outcomes Framework.                                                                                                            

The post will have the following overarching responsibilities for:

  • services and interventions.
  • Improvement services and interventions.

The post is placed within the Cambridgeshire County Council Public Health Directorate and is part of a team in accordance with their specialism.

About you

We are looking for a candidate who is creative, proactive, comfortable working across public sector and community-based organisations and on multiple projects.  The position will provide an opportunity to make a real difference to the population of Cambridgeshire, reducing inequalities and improving outcomes for children and young people.

You will require a Batchelor’s Degree in Public Health/Health Improvement or related subject. Equivalent experience will be considered but the post holder must commit to securing a relevant public health qualification.

You will have comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the Public Health population approach. This includes Public Health policy and practice, along with a knowledge of the key Public Health principles, especially its focus upon health inequalities and evidence-based practice. 

You will have sound knowledge and understanding of the key commissioning principles and the commissioning cycle.

You are a team player, able to interpret and analyse data to identify need and the implications for policy and commissioning, and competently analyse public health policy and strategy and to translate strategy into action.
