Information Governance Manager

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in developing excellence in the council's Information Governance service. We are looking for someone with enthusiasm for Information Governance and a drive to deliver an excellent customer focussed service. The role includes management and oversight of a team primarily delivering the key function of Freedom of Information Act (FOI)/Environmental Information Regulations (EIR). There will also be opportunities to become involved in other areas such as subject rights, records management, policy development and significant council projects where the Information Governance service will play an important part.

What will you be doing?

The role will focus on the council's FOI/EIR service with you providing oversight, management, advice and support along with practical service delivery regarding FOI and EIR. This may include speaking to customers to understand the scope of their request or to internal colleagues to ensure the team has relevant information to respond a request. You will be responsible for ensuring that the team's caseload is managed effectively and ensuring that responses are issued within statutory timeframes. 

You will also be expected provide advice and guidance on all other areas of Information Governance such as data protection and develop policies.

About you

You should be someone who can think proactively and innovatively to identify ways of delivering excellent customer focussed service. You should be able to identify opportunities to challenge existing practices and improve service delivery through change.

You should have excellent communication skills to ensure that you work effectively with the service and our partners internally and externally. These skills should include providing clear advice and support across the council to ensure we deliver a customer focussed service.
