About the role
The council receives around 600 requests for disclosure of records, which are often social care records containing information connected to abuse, safeguarding and child protection. It is critical that we process these records accurately and in accordance with data protection legislation and agreed processes. The disclosures to the police can support criminal investigations and prosecutions whilst subject access responses can help our customers understand their life story, how and why the council made its decisions or simply what information we hold.
For more information or to chat about this opportunity please contact Matthew Smith, matthew.smith@cambridgeshire.gov.uk or Matthew Wells, matthew.wells@cambridgeshire.gov.uk.
What will you be doing?
You will be responsible for reviewing sensitive and often complex council records, identifying relevant information, and helping to prepare appropriate disclosures. This will include supporting requests from the police where information may assist their investigations, and helping the council meet its legal obligations when responding to subject access requests.
You will work closely with colleagues across the council to ensure that records are reviewed carefully and responses issued are lawful, accurate and timely in line with data protection legislation and council procedures.
