About the role

Do you have an interest in supporting colleagues to develop in their role, grow their skills and fulfil their potential?

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Learning and Development Team within Cambridgeshire County Council as a Learning and Development Advisor. You’ll be joining a welcoming and friendly Career and Leadership Development team of around 10, and the wider Learning and Development Service of 40 colleagues. We support the learning and development of council colleagues through our Learning Management System which hosts e-learning modules and a booking system for face-to-face and online training. Alongside this, we support staff to complete work-based qualifications and apprenticeships.

What will you be doing?

The role will be focused, predominantly, in the Career and Leadership Development team  within the Learning and Development service, working  on career development opportunities for colleagues within Cambridgeshire County Council for example our Graduate programmes, career pathways and schemes to support internal mobility including mentoring programmes and work placement opportunities.

This is an emerging area of work offering you the opportunity to work alongside others to generate and develop innovative, creative ideas and solutions that support colleagues to learn and develop effectively in the workplace and support the Council’s strategic direction and plans. There will be opportunities to work collaboratively across other functions within the team to support the wider Learning and Development offer, which includes virtual and in person delivery of learning.

About you

You will have consulted with others on learning and development requirements, influencing and communicating to a wide range of people whilst generating creative solutions. You will have effective organisational skills, the ability to carry out self-directed activity and to motivate and lead others. An important aspect of the role will be to work in partnership with diverse groups both within and external to the organisation. We believe in and model continuous professional development and you will be supported and encouraged to develop your professional knowledge and skills.

The postholder will be able to work flexibly from home or from our Stanton House office in Huntingdon and other offices around the County when the need arises. We are also able to offer flexible and part time working patterns, these allow everyone to effectively blend their work and life commitments.
