Mobile Library Driver Supervisor

About the role

Do you have a flair for helping people, and a desire to work at the heart of the local community?  We are looking for an enthusiastic and versatile person to join our friendly and hard-working team driving one of our Mobile Libraries.

The position involves driving predetermined routes in mostly rural villages across Cambridge and South Cambridgeshire, including visits to schools, sheltered and residential accommodation and regular village/town locations. 

This post operates from a base in Orchard Park Cambridge  for 18.5 hours per week, 10 days per month.

You may occasionally be asked to cover other roles within Cambridgeshire libraries.  

Some evening and weekend working will be required to for promotional events where you will represent the Library Service, the County Council and partner organisations. Flexibility is essential to help meet the needs of the service.

What will you be doing?

This role is an exciting opportunity for a sociable, community focused individual interested in community engagement and libraries. 

You will be driving a 7.5 tonne Mobile Library Vehicle on routes throughout Cambridge and South Cambridgeshire, delivering front line library services to the communities served and completing library operational routines.

You will be an advocate for the library service within the community, helping to promote and develop the Mobile Library offer and ensuring effective communication with all partners.

The position involves working alone and taking responsibility for the Mobile Library vehicle and equipment.

We would loveto hear from candidates who can demonstrate exceptional customer service skills.Training will be given on specific library systems, but an ability to work with IT is essential.
