Parents' School Preference Adviser

Please Note: The application deadline for this job has now passed.

About the role

For many parents choosing a school for their child is an unknown procedure and one that causes them considerable anxiety. If they do not get the place they would like appealing the authority's decision is another cause of anxiety and stress. The Parents' School Preference Advisers role is to help parents navigate the admissions process and if necessary support them with appealing against the authority's decision.

This post is full time term time plus two weeks during the schools summer break

What will you be doing?

You will be providing an independent and impartial, practical support and advice service to those parents likely to need additional help at any stage of the admissions process. The process begins with choosing a school or schools and in rare cases supporting them with appealing for a place at the school or setting they would like their child to attend.

About you

You will need to be an excellent communicator and able to support service users who may be very emotional and enable them to not only understand the admissions process but enable them to decide actions they need to take and if necessary support them to do so.

You will need to be sensitive to cultural and language issues and able to work independently and as a member of a team.

If you can remain calm in stressful situations and want to empower parents to navigate through the admissions process we would like to hear from you.
