Personal Advisor

About the role

We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Personal Advisers to support care leavers aged 16 to 24 in their transition to independent living. As a Personal Adviser, you will be responsible for providing guidance, advocacy and practical assistance to empower care leavers to achieve their goals and navigate the challenges of adulthood.

What will you be doing?

Your day-to-day tasks will include;

  1. Undertaking comprehensive assessments of care leaver’s needs, strengths and goals.
  2. Developing personalised Pathway Plans in collaboration with the young person and their network including focus on housing, education and employment and emotional well-being.
  3. Providing one-to-one support and advocacy to ensure young people have access to the right support at the right time.
  4. Enabling young people to access opportunities including recreational, developing hobbies and creating friendships.
  5. Offering practical assistance including budgeting, accessing benefits and helping with applications for example housing applications
  6. Assisting young people in developing essential life skills from cooking, time management and communication.
  7. Facilitating group workshops and activities to promote social inclusion and personal development.
  8. Monitoring progress towards goals, undertaking reviews, and adjusting Pathway Plans as needed to reflect changing circumstances.
  9. Providing duty support on a rota basis.
  10. Maintaining accurate records and documentation

 

About you

You must have a minimum of an NVQ level 3/A levels relevant qualifications.

You should be able to demonstrate a good understanding of the specific issues faced by young people who have experienced care.

You will need to have strong communication skills, interpersonal and advocacy skills and be able to present information in different formats, as is suitable for the audience.

You will have the ability to work collaboratively to achieve improved outcomes.

You will have knowledge of the relevant legislation and policies that relate to care leavers.

The successful candidates must have a full driving licence and access to a vehicle, and must be willing to travel around and outside the Cambridgeshire Local Authority areas (Travelling is essential to this role as you).

Appointment to this post will be subject to the outcome of an Enhanced Disclosure with Adult and Child Barred List checks obtained through the Disclosure and Barring Service.
