Cambridgeshire County Council is offering and exciting opportunity to support the council’s Closer to Communities Programme for a fixed term until 31 March 2025.
The Project Manager is a role within the Programmes and Service Improvement Team works on the council's major change portfolio and is responsible for corporate programme/project delivery, support for business analysis and business change and, implementation and monitoring of benefits realisation.
The team is part of the Policy, Insights and Programmes Service which has been designed to bring together the portfolios of research and insight, policy and strategy, service improvement, and programmes and projects together to create a cross-cutting corporate centre to support Cambridgeshire County Council's strategic ambitions.

What will you be doing?
As Project Manager, you will support the delivery of a series of pilot projects that form the Closer to Communities Programme. These have been divided into tactical and strategic pilots. The former are smaller-scale pilots that can be delivered quickly, for instance Child and Family Centres engaging local communities in climate action. The strategic pilots are larger and more complex pieces of work that will take longer to establish, but which may open broader opportunities to align the Council’s work strategically with partners. These might include, for instance, deepening the Council’s engagement with integrated neighbourhoods.
The post holder will develop and deliver these projects using the council’s project management methodologies, standards and practice, ensuring dependencies identified and managed, initiating monitoring and control processes, maintaining an overview of progress, issues and risks, reporting effectively.
They will have proven experience of project management, excellent stakeholder management and the ability to work across complex systems to support the delivery of strategic change.

You will have a good level of knowledge and understanding of:
- project management
- stakeholder engagement
- reporting and project tools, to effectively manage and monitor projects and workstreams.
You will be:
- capable of coordinating a range of projects of varying complexity
- organised with excellent time management skills, with ability to self-direct and work under own initiative
- keen to support positive project outcomes
- motivated to make a visible difference to our communities and drive forward change.
