We are looking to appoint several relief (zero hours) Ceremony Officers, working from our Cambridge, March, Ely and Huntingdon bases, to register and conduct marriages and civil partnerships. This will include statutory and non-statutory ceremonies at Registration Offices, religious buildings, and approved premises across Cambridgeshire. As well as carrying out all related duties and responsibilities in compliance with the Registration Acts.
The posts are all initially fixed term contracts until the 31st October 2025, INCLUDING school holidays. For exceptional candidates there will then be the potential for the post to be made permanent.

What will you be doing?
Working with customers at life changing and emotional times requires a sensitive approach, enhanced organisational skills and excellent communication and presentation skills to small and large groups. These are team roles that require confidence, presentation skills, clear legible handwriting, IT skills and the highest attention to detail. Previous experience is desirable; however, full training and support will be given.

Have the ability to travel to and from over 80 various venues across Cambridgeshire
Salary scale is currently £14.36 per hour with enhanced rates for Saturdays (x 1.5), Sunday (x 1.78) and Bank Holidays (x 2).
These posts do not provide a regular monthly income, payment is claimed for the hours worked and income will vary from month to month and likely decrease during the winter when we have fewer ceremonies.
As a Ceremony Officer you would ideally be available to work some weekdays, 2 or 3 Saturdays per month, along with occasional Sundays and Bank Holidays. The work pattern is variable with a high demand for ceremonies in the summer months, particularly weekends.
Shortlisting will take place 3rd December 2024 and interviews will take place on 9th December in Cambridge, please allow 2-3 hours
