Relief Library Courier Driver

About the role

This vital role provides a courier collection service transferring stock around library sites and council offices throughout Cambridgeshire.

We are looking for a relief van driver to cover  a number of different routes, often at short notice to provide cover for both planned and unplanned absences.

Full training will be given on all of the locations as part of the induction to the role.

Pay award pending.

What will you be doing?

Driving a 3.5 tonne Luton van around sites across Cambridgeshire to provide a courier collection service for library stock and internal mail.

Accessing library sites during both staffed and unstaffed sessions.

Collecting and sorting boxes of books / items on route, occasional delivery of furniture and equipment as required.

About you

We are looking for candidates who can be flexible to meet the varying demands of this role.

You will 

  • Hold a full clean driving licence and confidently able to drive vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes in weight.
  • Be confident accessing library sites and council buildings outside staffed hours.
  • Be able to communicate well and have good interpersonal skills 
  • Be competent in manual handling  as this role can be physically demanding.
  • Confident working alone and able to manage your time and workload.
