About the role
Tennyson Lodge is a vibrant and busy centre providing support for Adults with a Learning Disability , where they participate in fun and engaging activities to empower them to maintain their independence, skills, and well-being.
The centre is open from 9am-4pm Monday to Friday
The role will include promoting life skills development, and providing planned activities, you will need to have commitment and enthusiasm towards working with people with a disability
The relief Support Worker post will support with covering when additional staff are required, these are flexible and can sometimes be at short notice. As a relief worker you will provide us with the hours you are available, and shifts would be offered on that basis. The shifts will be Monday to Friday between the hours of 8.50am-4pm. The flexibility is ideal for someone looking for a 2nd job or to fit around caring responsibilities.

What will you be doing?
You will develop and maintain knowledge of individual care needs to be able to understand what triggers challenging behaviour.
Adhere to guidance developed for that individual to ensure a consistent approach to individuals who significantly challenge the service of those who work with them, within the day centre.
You will work as part of a small staff team working with small groups of people to provide activities such as arts & crafts, sensory, cooking, musical and many more, as well as provision of personal care and administering medication.
You will also be required to plan and deliver activities as part of the role and assist people to take part in community activities.
About you
We offer excellent training and development opportunities, you will need the commitment to complete training and qualifications and learn new skills whilst working alongside a supportive team.
Experience of working with vulnerable people at work or home will be helpful however more importantly you will need excellent verbal and written communication skills including IT skills and able to think creatively. You will also need to have a sensitive and professional approach showing understanding of confidentiality in and outside the service.
A good understanding of equal opportunities, person centred approach and diversity are all essential. Sometimes you will be lone working but will also work as part of the team in group activities
