Reunification and Placement Stability Family Worker

About the role

We are looking for Family Workers to join our Reunification and Placement Stability (RAPS) Team!

We work closely with the Children in Care and Fostering Service to undertake reunification assessments and support care arrangements. 
You will be using trauma informed approaches to deliver tailored interventions to our in house foster carers, provide structured support to children and young people and support a therapeutic network to increase care arrangement stability. 

The role also requires you to work alongside the teams Social Workers to assess families to consider if a young person can return home from a care situation back to birth parents. Following the NSPCC’s Reunification Framework, you will be undertaking direct work with young people aged 8-18 and their families to deliver interventions tailored to build on existing strengths and address presenting risks.

You will be working with a range of professionals and services around our young people and you will contribute to the systems in place with multi-agency partners to enable sharing of information, collaborative working, and shared planning and reflective meetings.

We focus on achieving the best possible outcomes for our young people with all permanence options being considered and explored.

What will you be doing?

  • Seek solutions to strengthen care arrangements and support our most vulnerable young people back into in-house and in-county provisions that better meet their needs.  
  • Identify risks and responding to them in an effective and timely manner with regular reviews, monitoring and safeguarding procedures being adhered to.
  • Engage with young people to ensure their views and voice are central to assessment and intervention.
  • Use systemic approaches to support planned and unplanned reunifications and explore all permanence options.
  • Use SMART goals when working with families.
  • Create and use analytical chronologies to capture the child's journey, highlighting patterns and themes, and ensure recurring risks are highlighted.

 

About you

We're looking for confident and dynamic individuals who enjoy making a difference in their local community, are curious and spot things that others might not see, enjoys building relationships and likes to explore possibilities.

You must:

  • Have experience of working directly with children and families, with knowledge and awareness of the signs of abuse and neglect in children and young people
  • Have knowledge and understanding of policy, guidance and legislation in relation to specialist services such as mental health, drug and alcohol, youth justice
  • Have the ability to work from a variety of locations and travel countywide independently
