About the role

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Designated Safeguarding Lead/Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead to join the well established and highly regarded Education Safeguarding Team in Cambridgeshire County Council.

The Education Safeguarding Team is seeking an experienced Designated Safeguarding Lead/Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead to join the team as an Education Safeguarding Adviser.  The Team provide services to all forms of educational establishments across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough so that they can fulfil their responsibilities under current legislation and government guidance on safeguarding.  We promote consistent best practice and responses to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, alongside partner agencies, through training, support and guidance to schools and colleges.

The post is full time - 37 hours

52 weeks a year

What will you be doing?

The postholder will:

- assist in the provision of an efficient and effective Safeguarding support service to Schools, Colleges and other Education establishments in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough to ensure compliance with the requirements of all statutory and non-statutory guidance.

- provide training, support and guidance to education establishments in all aspects of safeguarding and child protection

- represent Education in the context of the inter-agency arrangements for safeguarding and child protection in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough

- collaborate with the Safeguarding Children Partnership Board and other safeguarding partner agencies to promote the welfare of children.

About you

You will have at least 4 years experience of being a Designated Safeguarding Lead/Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead in a school or college.

You will be able to demonstrate experience of having worked with other agencies in your role and have a sound knowledge of local policies and procedures.

You will be passionate about safeguarding children and young people and have the ability to pass on that knowledge and experience to others.
