We're looking for a Service Manager to join us in Quality Assurance & Practice Improvement, to support the delivery of a high quality and effective Social Work service that responds to the needs of children and their families in a timely manner and within statutory guidelines, whilst providing scrutiny and challenge of the plans for children and young people.
The successful candidate will be independent of the day-to-day casework, allowing them to be more strategic while promoting best practice to CCC and our partner agencies.
This is a vital role in the delivery of quality assurance activities in Children Services. The Service Manager's experience, skills knowledge and relational approach will contribute to the improvement of social work practice and make sure children are safeguarded from harm and cared for to a very high standard. The Service Manager will be able to influence and experience to support implementation of the social work model, values and practice standards through a quality approach, and they will be able to interpret data to gain a wider view of practice.

What will you be doing?
You will have the day to day responsibility for the delivery and leadership of quality assurance and participation and the staff undertaking this work. You will line manage a team of up to 8 people including Quality Assurance Officers, the Independent Visitor and Participation Officers, being responsible for supervision, recruitment and development.
You will ensure that Social Workers are involved in all aspects of this work and that the child’s voice is listened to through feedback and activities.
You will plan, coordinate, deliver work, and be accountable and responsible for meeting deadlines and delivering quality in everything the service does. You will work with Learning and Development colleagues to ensure that the learning loop is strongly embedded.

To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Strong communication skills, able to deliver both written and verbal reports and present information to a wide ranging group of professionals.
- A strength based approach where your relationship building will support greater understanding of quality assurance and it's value and impact across the organisation.
- To be sensitive and solution focused in problem solving.

You must:
- Have a degree level Social Work qualification and hold a Social Work England registration
- Have the ability to work from a variety of locations and travel countywide independently
