Service Manager and Strategic Lead for Carers

About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to join us as a Service Manager working across Cambridgeshire County Council's Adults Countywide Service.  You will be an experienced Team Manager and qualified Social Worker who is interested in the opportunity to progress in your career, and have a background in Adult Social Care, and some experience of working in partnership with carers.

You will work with other Service Manager colleagues to oversee the Adults operational long term teams who provide support to adults, their families and their informal carers.  The client base covers those with physical disabilities, and/or will be older people, who live in the community and residential settings.

The role also involves ensuring the Local Authority meets their statutory responsibilities which includes a focus on supporting carers. We are looking for a Manager who has the passion around informal carers, who can be instrumental in supporting and driving forward our ‘All Age Carers Strategy in Cambridgeshire County Council’, whilst developing practice and improving outcomes for individuals

This role is vital to ensure quality of responses and services delivered to individuals and carers. This role has a day-to-day operational responsibility for service safety, equity and quality and a strategic role to drive continuous improvement in the outcomes for adults and carers within Cambridgeshire.

Our Adult Social Care Teams are currently working to a hybrid model, with part-remote options available in line with our service needs. Following an induction our Service Managers are likely to work from the office up to three days each week. The office base for this post will be in Huntingdon.

What will you be doing?

This is a new post due to an organisational restructure, and the post holder will be working alongside the three current Service Managers in our Adults' Service.  The Service Managers work collaboratively to support our Community Teams across Cambridgeshire, each with a focussed lead area of specialism within their remit.

You will be responsible for a small number of our existing Community Teams, supporting team managers to develop and improve existing services. The key strategic aim for your focussed lead area of specialism will be supporting the service development work across Adults’ services for carers. 

The role is varied on a day-to-day basis and allows for a high level of multi-agency working, creativity and autonomy. The post holder will work across our Adult Social Care services and will line manage Team Managers providing robust leadership, guidance and good quality support.  The post holder will have experience of working within a Strengths Based Approach, and be able to make evidence-based decisions to promote the safety of others.

Using data, feedback, and knowledge you will be key in supporting Adult Social Care’s preparations for CQC’s Assurance Framework.

Management of resources and capacity is also key to this role.

 

About you

You will hold a current Social Work qualification and be registered with Social Work England.

We are looking for an individual who has management experience, passion and enthusiasm to drive forward the organisational vision and ensure the carers strategy is being realised.

You must have experience of managing people and performance, and leading and managing change. We are looking for someone who is a skilled communicator, with strong organisational skills, and the ability to coordinate and manage the competing demands for services.  Co-production and collaborative work with a wide range of stakeholders is a requirement in this role.

Experience of working with adults with care and support needs, and carers is essential along with a good understanding of the underpinning legislative frameworks which guide practice, including The Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and Continuing Health Care guidance.

The successful candidate will need to be able to travel independently between locations within Cambridgeshire.
