Social Worker - Cambridge and Peterborough Regional Adoption Agency

About the role

Cambridgeshire County Council and Peterborough City Council are delighted to share that we have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and creative Social Worker to join us in the Regional Adoption Agency on a 6 month secondment.

You will be joining the Recruitment & Assessment Team that is part of the Regional Adoption Agency that support adoptive & special guardianship families in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. We bring together the very best talent, experience and energy to increase the number of adopters across the county and give children loving and stable families. You will be part of a supportive team who recruit and assess prospective adopters and support children in their adoptive placements. 

The role is based in Huntingdon, but you will be working across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, as well as our neighbouring local authorities. You must speak to your line manager before applying, to confirm that you can be released from your substantive post to take up this secondment.

What will you be doing?

You will join Recruitment and Assessment Team in the Regional Adoption Agency. The role is varied and includes assessing adoptive parents through the two stages of assessment and working with children and their permanent placements. 

You will participate with, and contribute to, the team's commitment to continuous learning as we share our learning and resources across the team, including supporting Student Social Workers in their work-based placement. 

About you

We're looking for confident and dynamic individuals who enjoy making a difference in their local community, are curious and spot things that others might not see, enjoys building relationships and likes to explore possibilities.

You must:

  • Be a qualified Social Worker with a Social Work England registration
  • Have the ability to work from a variety of locations, travel countywide, and out of county, independently.

This opportunity is only open to current Cambridgeshire County Council and Peterborough City Council employees and current agency staff with these employers.
