Team Leader- Huntingdon Day Services

About the role

Huntingdon Day Services is a group of 3 day centres for Adults with a Learning Disabilities in and around the Huntingdon area. Huntingdon Day Centre is the main service based near Huntingdon town centre with CATS & Shortsands being satellite day services in St Ives and St Neots.

The role of Team Leader is to have day to day responsibly for the running of the centres to ensure the services offer high quality of activities and opportunities for those people that attend. Working to enable adults with a disability to have the skills to live as independently as possible and to empower them to make choices for themselves in their day to day lives.

The centre has its own employability projects as we endeavour to provide work based opportunities for the adults that use the service.

What will you be doing?

You will report to the Operations Manager and support with the service delivery by providing supervision and oversight of the staff teams including Senior Support Workers and Employability Co-ordinators.

The role will include staff supervision and 1:1 meetings and appraisals, managing rotas and provision of staff, completing HR processes, and ensuring training is booked and completed and ensuring team meetings are conducted regularly.

You will also be involved in driving up standards of care and will complete quality assurance processes. The role will be the responsible person for Safeguarding and Health & Safety in the service.

The role will require you to lead staff to support those who have behaviours that challenge and train as a PROACT SCIPr instructor.

You will be using IT to update documents such as support plans, risk assessments and will have excellent knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act and assessments of capacity.

This post is Monday- Friday 8:50- 16:00 (17:10 on a Wednesday)

About you

You will need to have the ability to plan and prioritise work in order to meet strict deadlines in a very busy environment at multiple sites

Be able to present information clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing to diverse groups of people and have excellent IT skills.

You will have experience of providing opportunities to adults with a learning disabilities and an understanding of the principles of supporting and empowering individuals.

Also, you will require an ability to demonstrate understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion, Mental Capacity Act as well as the need for safety and confidentiality in the role.

You will need to have experience in managing a staff team and associated tasks including building a great team culture and supporting staff wellbeing.
