Vision Rehabilitation Specialist

About the role

Prevention & Early Intervention offers support and input to empower people to remain

 living independently in their own homes and communities, providing information and

support to enable them to function independently for longer preventing and delaying

the need for care and support.

Sensory Services are a specialist team including qualified Vision Rehabilitation Specialists

who have specialist knowledge in all aspects of; sight loss, hard of hearing/deafness

and dual sensory loss/deaf blindness. The team provide information, advice and

practical rehabilitation input designed to improve outcomes for people living with

 sensory loss by providing opportunities for maintaining and improving independence

living skills and wellbeing.   

What will you be doing?

You will identify, deliver and evaluate professional rehabilitation interventions to visually impaired people to enhance their skills and confidence to maximise their independence. Assessing and providing support plans to help people at risk from harm or becoming dependent on others due to their sight loss.

You are not required to directly line manage staff, but you will be required to support, advise and mentor rehabilitation assistants.

You will report to the senior rehabilitation specialist Nicola Poole.

About you

You will have a degree in Visual Impairment Rehabilitation.

We require you to be registered with the Rehabilitation Workers Professional Network.

We would welcome and support applications from candidates with lived experience of sensory loss.
