Volunteer Coordinator - Library Projects

About the role

We are looking for a Volunteer Coordinator who will sustain and grow volunteer engagement and partnership projects within Cambridgeshire Libraries.  This post will work across all of Cambridgeshire.

 As a Volunteer Coordinator you will support a number of libraries in developing and maintaining their volunteer engagement programs and you will oversee and develop some Cambridgeshire Library service offers which are supported and/or delivered by volunteers.

You will be part of the Volunteer and Health Development Team which has overall responsibility for delivering Library@Home services, volunteer engagement and running events aimed at reducing social isolation and increasing wellbeing. This team also has responsibility for the promotion and distribution of health information, supporting health literacy and other Public Health campaigns.

The Volunteer and Health Development Team is part of the Library Development Team, which works with, and reports to, the Library Leadership Team.

What will you be doing?

You will be responsible for the management and development of a number of projects which are delivered by library staff and volunteers. Some of these projects will be commissioned by external organisations with whom you will be liaising to ensure the continued success of each of these projects.

You will be communicating with, and providing volunteer management support to, library staff at any number of our 33 libraries where they are involved in project delivery or volunteer management.

You will, on occasions, be briefing the Library Development Team and Library Leadership team on project updates or service delivery.

You will be tasked with increasing the number of volunteers who engage with Cambridgeshire Libraries through developing new volunteer roles, working with local library staff, and promoting current volunteer opportunities.

You will be instrumental in providing training for, and jointly supervising the roll out of, a new Volunteer Management Software to Hub libraries; and will support all library staff in learning how to use this software to manage volunteer data.

 

 

About you

You will be someone with enthusiasm for and/or experience of working in public libraries. You will have excellent customer service skills and be able to demonstrate the capacity to work under pressure.

You will have experience of recruiting and supervising volunteers and will have managed events and/or service provision in which volunteers have been involved. You  will have experience of working with young people and adults as volunteers.

You will have line-managed staff both on a day to day basis and for the delegation of work tasks, evidenced through previous work you have undertaken.

Excellent communication skills and attention to detail will be a strong point for you.

You will be a car driver with constant access to a car as travel throughout Cambridgeshire is required and can be frequent. You will also need a car to access remote dwellings and rural villages which do not have public transport.
