About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to join Cambridgeshire Youth Justice Service (YJS) as a Senior Youth Justice Service Transition Adviser (Senior YJS TA). This position is on a fixed term basis for approximately 9 months to cover maternity leave for the current job holder. This is a specialist role within a multi-disciplinary service and as a Senior YJS TA you will line manage the YJS Transitions advisers as well as offer intensive 1:1 support to a small caseload of children/young people (aged 10-18) open to Youth Justice Service who are assessed as attending inappropriate provision or those young people who are not in education, employment or training (NEET) or at risk of becoming NEET.
The post holder will be based in Fenland and East Cambridgeshire area but may need to travel across the county.

You will be required to hold a full and valid driving license and have access to a vehicle or have the ability to otherwise travel efficiently between locations, both countywide and beyond.
Interviews may include a young people’s panel in addition to a management interview panel.

What will you be doing?
You will be the operational lead within the Youth Justice Service for all things education, training and employment. Ensuring that various processes are followed designed to ensure that the number of young people supported by Youth Justice services are accessing suitable ETE provision.
You will have line management responsibility of two part time YJS Transitions advisors, providing caseload supervision and wellbeing support to enable the team to work together to achieve the required performance results.
You will support a small caseload of young people by providing targeted interventions to support them to transition back into suitable education, employment or training. The intervention will form part of a wider YJS intervention plan.
You will have oversight of the completion of Education, Training or Employment Assessments by you and your team to help inform the wider Youth Justice ASSET plus assessment and Prevention and Diversion Assessment Tool (PDAT).
You will have oversight of the processes around single point of contact to a number of education providers, both schools and post 16 establishments to share information and risks regarding previous convictions and safeguarding information for young people who attend the provision or are applying to enrol at the provision as well as taking on the position of single point of contact for some establishments.

Skills and Experience:
- Knowledge and experience of line management and supervision processes to manage a team effectively.
- Knowledge and experience of working with young people in a variety of settings and with challenging behaviours.
- Knowledge of opportunities in employment and training for young people and evidence of working with providers.
- Knowledge of legislation relating to youth justice, raising participation and safeguarding.
- You will have ability to produce, keep and maintain good case recording and assessments.
