Advanced Public Health Analyst (GIS)

About the role

This is a new and exciting opportunity to design and implement several large varied geospatial products to support the work of the public health team and wider stakeholders, with the aim of improving the health and wellbeing of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough’s population.  This will include (but is not limited to):

  • creating a vulnerable persons GIS system to be able to respond to emergency situations.
  • to create a Healthy Streets mapping platform to inform decision making and planning.
  • to examine fuel poverty across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.
  • mapping to inform the Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment.  

The postholder will work collaboratively across Cambridgeshire County Council, Peterborough City Council and with partners in health, district/city councils, social care, emergency services, and other statutory and voluntary organisations.  This is a shared post between Cambridgeshire County Council and Peterborough City Council but the post holder will be employed by Cambridgeshire County Council and will work in the shared Public Health Intelligence team.

What will you be doing?

The postholder will use their GIS skills and experience to deliver several large projects. 

To lead on the design, development and implementation of GIS projects.

To use strong data management, leadership, stakeholder engagement and communication to develop the GIS products from concept through to completion.  

To provide product and GIS training to stakeholders and the public health intelligence team.

About you

We are looking for a highly motivated, innovative and creative individual, who has advanced skills and experience in GIS product development, ideally using Arc-GIS.  You will be educated to master’s level in a relevant subject or be able to demonstrate appropriate relevant experience. 

We are seeking someone who has a good understanding of data management and analytics, has effective leadership and communication skills and has the ability to successfully engage and work with stakeholders to lead GIS product development from start to finish. 

Project management skills are essential, and you will be working with conflicting pressures and priorities.
