About the role
The post is for up to 2 days a week starting ASAP and is temporary in the first instance with a view to moving to permanent after March 2027. It will require you to deliver PPA lessons across a variety of KS2 year groups.
You will need to share our commitment to delivering a knowledge-rich curriculum (which we believe is the entitlement of all our children, regardless of background or ability) and be tenacious in your support of the school’s most vulnerable pupils.
The successful applicant will be required to liaise closely with class teachers and will be supported by Team Leaders.
An application form, job description and person specification can be found on the school website > Cottenham Primary School - Unqualified Teacher
Closing date for applications will be Wednesday, 20 May, with interviews planned for w/c 1 June 2026.
What will you be doing?
At Cottenham Primary School we are committed to providing the best possible education, so that all children thrive and achieve. We believe that our children, families, staff and governors are of equal value, and we respect and appreciate the diversity they bring to our school community. We welcome our duties under the Equality Act 2010 to eliminate discrimination, advance equality of opportunity and foster good relations.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
About you
We are looking to appoint an Unqualified Teacher who aligns with our culture; is passionate about equity of opportunity; and has only the highest expectations for all members of our school community.
- Are you galvanised by the opportunity to inspire children in their educational journey?
- Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant ready to progress and step up your professional development or are you an ex-teacher looking to get back into the workplace?
- Do you want to join a phenomenally committed group of supportive professionals?
If the answer to these questions is ‘yes’, then we would love to hear from you.

Our four values are central to our culture, driving everything we do.

If you don’t meet every single requirement in the job role but think this could be you, please don’t be put off. We are committed to building a workplace that is compassionate and inclusive as well as diverse, so if you think you could be a good candidate for this role please consider applying and speak to the recruiting manager if you have any questions.
Our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Strategy, along with our employee network 'IDEAL' and self-organised peer support groups help us to foster an inclusive, supportive and safe working environment where people feel valued, respected, and empowered. We collect relevant diversity data for monitoring as part of the recruitment process to understand the diversity of our applicants and monitor any trends throughout the recruitment processes so that we can take meaningful action.

Through a Guaranteed Interview Scheme, we will offer an interview to all applicants who disclose a disability and meet the essential criteria for a job vacancy. On your application form you can indicate you are disabled. Some examples of reasonable adjustments during the recruitment process could include additional time to complete an assessment or printing a document on pastel coloured paper with larger font size and line spacing. We would value talking about what might be possible to enable you to join us and thrive, so if there is something that would help you to do your best during your journey with us, please get in touch.
