About the role
This vacancy is in the Adults Business Systems team supporting the Adults, Health and Commissioning directorate.
We are looking for a Senior Business Systems Support Officer to join our Customer & Digital Services team and help support the important business systems used across Cambridgeshire County Council.
This is a varied role where you will provide specialist support across line-of-business applications, helping colleagues get the best from the systems they rely on to deliver services. You will investigate and resolve complex issues, support system changes and upgrades, and use your technical knowledge to provide advice and guidance to both customers and colleagues.
You will act as a point of escalation within the team and have the opportunity to contribute to service improvements, system development and projects, as well as supporting and sharing your knowledge with less experienced colleagues.
This is a hybrid role, with regular attendance at the office required during the month.
What will you be doing?
No two days will be exactly the same. Working as part of our Business Systems team, you will:
- Investigate and resolve complex incidents, service requests and application issues, working within agreed service levels.
- Act as a point of escalation for colleagues and provide guidance on more complex technical issues.
- Support, configure and administer line-of-business systems, including managing processes and integrations between applications.
- Work closely with service users to understand their requirements, identify options and recommend practical solutions.
- Support system upgrades, releases and the introduction of new systems, including testing and implementation activities.
- Carry out root cause analysis, escalating issues to third-party suppliers where necessary.
- Help design and implement workflows, forms and processes in response to business, legislative and service requirements.
- Support data quality, reporting and statutory return activities where required.
- Produce and maintain clear system documentation, process maps, support information and training materials.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, customers, suppliers and application owners to continuously improve the quality and performance of our services.
About you
You will be an experienced IT professional with a strong background in supporting business applications or line-of-business systems and the confidence to investigate and resolve complex issues.
You will have a good understanding of IT support processes and be comfortable configuring systems, analysing requirements and translating them into practical solutions. Experience of working with Microsoft 365 applications is important, with knowledge of tools such as Power BI or Power Automate also beneficial.
Depending on the service area you support, experience of systems within areas such as Adult Social Care, Children’s Social Care and Early Help, Education, Assets, Customer Services or GIS would be particularly valuable. Knowledge of areas such as system integrations, data management, reporting and dashboards, SQL, JavaScript or GIS technologies may also be relevant.
Just as importantly, you will be someone who thrives on solving problems and delivering an excellent customer experience. You will be organised, able to manage competing priorities and comfortable taking ownership of issues through to resolution. You will communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical colleagues, work well independently and as part of a team, and be willing to share your knowledge and support the development of others.
